Junkie Fest 2018 Card Projects

Hello Friends! It has been a while that I had a chance to say “hello” and share some of my ideas with you. I have been crafting here and there, so my summer has not been ‘craftless’. But things have been so busy with my job that I could not get myself to spend more time on the computer than already necessary. I hope you can forgive me and enjoy some of the upcoming card project ideas I have to share with you.

Today I have two blog posts to share with you. I attended Junkie Fest 2018 and it was the most wonderful experience for me because I finally got to meet some other crafters face to face. I had such a great time talking to like-minded ladies about inks, card stock and stamps! For someone like me, who is fairly new to the card-making world and has no other crafters around where I live, this was the best event to attend. The classes were fun and meeting the teachers was a dream come true. If you are interested in this event, leave me a comment or send me a message and I’m happy to share additional information with you for next year.

Here are a few projects we worked on in class and in the ‘Make & Takes’. I will try to share some additional information underneath each picture and the company website in case you are interested in finding any of these items. Feel free to contact me or leave a comment below if any questions come up or you want additional details on the projects. Please note: These are all project/cards that I made, but none of these were my ideas.Enjoy!

Karen Hightower’s Class

Karen Hightower's class
Karen Hightower’s class was my first class and I loved it. Please note: My cat Izzie, decided to strech her paws into the picture. She wanted to be part of the project and my blog 🙂
Gina K's Nature's Element.
Karen taught us how to use Gina K’s Nature’s Element stencil to make this wonderful design on the bag and the card. This was one of my most favorite projects.

Gina K's Autumn Wreath Builder Stamp
These cards were made with Gina K’s Autumn Wreath Builder Stamp set. I love Gina’s wreath builder stencil. It’s so versatile! It can be used with any stamp set. More posts coming about the Wreath Builder stencil and the Autumn Stamp set.

Unity Stamp Company Class

Being the newbie that I am to crafting, I have never heard of Unity Stamp Company. Angie, Whitney and Nick came to Junkie Fest to teach a class and let us play with some of their stamps. I’m a huge fan of their stamps. They have such unique designs and such a great selection of stamps that are perfect for mixed media. Here are some of the projects we made.

We made this notebook cover with a Unity Stamp Co stamp set, a piece of cardstock, a page from a book, white embossing powder and Distress Oxide inks. I can find the names of the stamp set for anyone that is interested. Let me know in the comment section.
This tag was another project we made in class.

Unity Stamp Co "Hello Beautiful" Stamp setAnd last but not least… this cool card with the “Hello Beautiful” Stamp set. The flower in this stamp set is huge! I love this.

Thankful Leaves Turnabout" Stamp Set by Concord & 9th
The Concord & 9th class was another great class to attend. For this card we used Kraft Card stock and the “Thankful Leaves Turnabout” Stamp.

Taylored Expressions Make & Take

Taylored Expressions
Taylor had everything cut out for us in the Make & Take and we only had to assemble the cards, after stamping the butterflies. I love this set. Such a cute card.

Catherine Pooler’s Make & Take

Catherine Pooler's "Tropically Yours" Stamp of Approval
Catherine Pooler had us make a card with her “Tropically Yours” Stamp of Approval stamp set. I loved meeting Catherine and chatting with her about her inks. More to come on this in a future blog post.

Love From Lizi Make & Take

This was a Make & Take from “Love from Lizi” from England. Elizabeth came all the way from England to spend time with us and do this Make & Take for us. I loved meeting her and she is such a sweet person.

Viva Las Vegas

Viva Las Vegas
Viva Las Vegas, which is a store close to the strip in Las Vegas full of red rubber stamps (you have never seen a store like that! If you are ever in the area, you have to check it out). They have everything you can imagine in stamps! Their make and take was so simple, yet it is such a cute card!

Kitchen Sink Stamps

This is another stamp company that I was not familiar with before going to Junkie Fest. I have to say that I was super impressed. Maria and her helper were so generous with their time! They made sure everyone had the chance to do their make and take. They were available every day until the end of the day. Additionally, Maria’s stamps are so realistic! Look at this tree! If you have not seen their stamps, you should take a look at their website.

Kitchen Sink Stamps
We stamped this tiny Norway Pine tree on top of real wood. This is such a great ornament. I loved this idea.

Hero Arts

Hero Arts had us watercolor this beautiful flower. Such a simple, but beautiful card.

I was not able to participate in all the Make & Takes, so I’ve written only about those in which i participated.

It means so much that all these wonderful companies came out to meet with us and donated so generously for the Make & Take’s, door prizes and swag bags. This is such a wonderful industry full of so many kind hearted people. Please continue to support these companies if you love to craft. Thank you for spending so much time with me today again. I hope you found some inspiration here.
